So, as you all know, I went home to Roatan, Honduras back in June.  It was an amazing experience to say the least.  The food, the scenery, the people, everything.  There were so many highlights…I think one of my favorite memories was West Bay…I love it there!  The water is crystal clear and so warm.  It feels like bath water!  It was crazy!  I also loved Sandy Bay – it was so much more quiet and peaceful than where we were staying – and there were so many stars in the sky, which were perfectly visible from there.  And then the nightlife in West End was AMAZING!  That in and of itself yields so many stories…lol…that I’ll keep to myself.  But I think the part that I loved the most, but also presented the biggest challenge, was meeting so many different family members, all at once.  So many eyes and so many opinions.  So many different people to focus on individually.  That was hard.  But everyone was warm and friendly, for the most part, and that I can appreciate.  Really can’t wait to go back and explore Roa a little deeper.  It is, after all, my home.

  1. Hello:

My family is also from Roatan and I too visited there in June. The best part of my vacation was walking off of my Uncles back yard into a boat and riding half way around the island, the wonderful food that I've been missing, the people and like you meeting so, so many of my family.

Hanging out with my family and the folks of the beautiful island was my best part.

I visited West Bay and thought it so 'made up' that I was disappointed. I didn't go there at night - I may have to try that next time.

Glad you had a great time! I can't wait to return - so planning to go back later this year.
